WELCOME TO THE HOME OF LONGBOARD SURFING IN THE WESTERN CAPE

Western Province Longboarding Surfing (WPLS) is the official platform to competitive Longboard Surfing at local, provincial, national and international levels. If you aspire to surfing in the annual WP Champs, surfing for WP at SA Champs, surfing for SA (full Protea Colors) at World Longboard Championships, or surfing individually on the prestigious, professional ASP Longboard circuit – then you’ve come to the right place!
This is where it all begins! Or… like the majority of our members – you may simply want to be part of the big family and “jol” that is the Longboarding fraternity in the Western Cape.
The WPLSA was established in 1989, when a revival took place in Longboard Surfing after its near-demise with the advent of short boards in the late 60’s. WPLSA is affiliated to the South African Longboard Surfing Association (SALSA) and Surfing South Africa (SSA), which is the governing body for Surf Riding in South Africa. Our provincial rivals – Eastern Province, Southern Cape and Kwa-Zulu-Natal, are likewise affiliated.
If you are a new visitor here, we sincerely hope you will get a sense of what we are all about, and …. JOIN US in our pursuit of the most chilled recreational past-time or sport on the planet.
